Alice Hoffman grew up on Long Island and earned a BA in English<\/a> at ÃÛÑ¿TV and a MA in Creative Writing from Stanford. Her first novel, Property Of<\/i>, was written at the age of 21.<\/p>\n

Since that remarkable beginning, Hoffman has become one of our nation\u2019s most distinguished novelists. Her work has been published in more than 20 translations and more than 100 foreign editions. Her novels have been named notable books of the year by The New York Times<\/i>, The Los Angeles Times<\/i> and Library Journal<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Hoffman has remained connected with her alma mater. She founded the Alice Hoffman Young Writers Retreat<\/a>, donated her literary collection to University Archives, returns to our Long Island <\/span>campus as a guest speaker<\/a>, is a supporter of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program<\/a> and was Adelphi\u2019s honorary doctoral degree recipient at Commencement in 2002.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
