For the third consecutive year, the stands atop the , and this time, the Panthers didn’t just win the NE10 Presidents Cup, the annual trophy given to the conference’s top all-around program. They made history doing it.

Adelphi’s three-peat marks the first such accomplishment by any institution since 2009–2012, pushing the Panthers’ all-time Cup total to seven, third-most in conference history. On top of that, Adelphi also won the NE10 Founders Cup and Pioneers Cup as the best men’s and women’s programs, respectively. It is the second time Adelphi has swept those trophies in the three years they have been awarded.

Most telling, however, is what the Brown and Gold have done in the modern era: Since 2012–2013, no program has been more dominant, with Adelphi now claiming seven of the last 14 Presidents Cups.

A Dynasty Defined: Men’s Lacrosse Falls One Step Short of Immortality

For 14 consecutive weeks, the two-time defending national champion chased history, bidding to become the first three-peat in NCAA Division II history.

In near-identical fashion to in Foxborough, Massachusetts, the Cats and University of Tampa once again needed extra time to settle the score, this time in a 12-11 loss at the University of Virginia’s Scott Stadium in Charlottesville.

The defeat stings, but the résumé endures. At 19-1, the Panthers were the first program to appear in three consecutive national title games since 2017–2019.

Goaltender led all of Division II with a 5.61 goals-against average and a .663 save percentage while limiting opponents to a nationwide-low 6.25 goals per game.

received the title of Lt. Raymond J. Enners Outstanding Player of the Year, the third consecutive season a Panther has claimed the honor, while also repeating as the Lt. J.G. Donald McLaughlin Jr. Outstanding Midfielder of the Year. Tomei attained an Ensign G. Markland Kelly Jr. Outstanding Goalie citation, and was named Long Pole Midfielder of the Year. and hold on to their honors from the 2025 season, being named the Lt. Col. JI Turnbull Outstanding Attackman and the William C. Schmeisser Defensive Player of the Year, respectively.

A Grand Slam in the Desert: Women’s Tennis Makes Program History

While the men’s lacrosse team was making its stand in Virginia, the was writing its own chapter in the NCAA Tournament in Surprise, Arizona.

Under ’18, MS ’21, herself a former NE10 Player of the Year for the very program she now leads, the Panthers posted a perfect 12-0 NE10 regular-season record, their first unblemished conference mark since ’26 was a Panther in 2015–2016, before claiming the NE10 Championship in dominant fashion at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in the shadow of Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The historic run culminated in the program’s first-ever appearance in the .

Fakas was coined as the NE10 Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year, and the ITA/Dunlop Coach of the Year for both the men’s and women’s programs, having guided her teams to a combined 33-12 record.

’26, who pushed the nationally fourth-ranked Emily Buchanan of Mississippi College to a first-set tiebreak in Adelphi’s debut at nationals, was named the ITA East Region Senior Player of the Year, adding to a decorated résumé that includes , , an NE10 Elite 24 Award and First Team NE10 All-Conference praise in both singles and doubles.

Men’s Tennis: Three’s Not a Crowd, It’s a Dynasty

The men’s tennis team became the NE10’s first three-time tournament champion since 2019, joining three other universities as the only programs in conference history to claim that distinction.

, MS ’26, was labeled the Vern Cox NE10 Player of the Year, the fourth-consecutive Panther to do so, while earned his second career NE10 Championship Most Outstanding Player honor.

Softball’s Remarkable Resurrection

In just her second season at the helm, Head Coach engineered one of the most impressive single-year turnarounds in recent program memory.

After a sub-.500 finish in 2025, the Panthers rebounded to go 37-23 overall with a 27-9 conference record, earning the No. 2 seed in the NE10 Championship, hosting an NCAA Tournament regional pod within the friendly confines of Janet L. Ficke Field, and .

“Carv”-ing Up the Opposition

A live fastball that sat in the 90s was just the beginning for fifth-year senior ’26.

Under the mentorship of first-year , the right-hander put together the finest season of his career in Garden City, going 7-1 with a 2.67 earned-run average to earn NE10 Pitcher of the Year honors, as well as draw some eyes from Major League scouts.

In doing so, Carver joined a short list of distinguished Cats to earn All-America recognition, following in the footsteps of T.J. Santiago ’17 (2017), Ed Baram ’19 (2019) and Dawson Montesa (2025) in bringing the conference’s top pitching honor back to Adelphi for the second time in as many years.

A Rising Tide

The NE10 Presidents Cup isn’t won by two or three programs alone. It is a collective achievement.

The Adelphi men’s and went a combined 17-0 against conference opponents, outscoring them 299-122. The women’s tennis team’s 12-0 regular season run complemented the men’s team, capturing three of the last four NE10 regular season championships.

volleyball program recorded its fourth consecutive 20-win season. And on the links, the , paired with runner-up finishes from the , , and at their respective NE10 Championships, ensured no points were left on the table.

The Panthers aren’t just winning. They’re redefining what sustained excellence looks like in NCAA Division II athletics.

It was just four years ago, in the spring of 2022, when Adelphi’s annual Giving Day first reached $500,000 in donations. Two years later, it set a new record of $684,000. Another big jump last year raised the bar to $886,000.

But nothing compares to the totals set this spring, when donations rocketed to $2.28 million, including $1.07 million in outright commitments and $1.2 million in planned gifts. The generosity was spread across the University, as every academic unit and key campaign reached or exceeded its individual fundraising target.

“With 1,580 donors and 1,626 gifts, our community demonstrated the true impact of investing in the University we believe in,” said Thomas Kline, EdD, Adelphi’s vice president of University advancement and external relations. “This remarkable generosity is a powerful testament to the transformative potential of our Momentum Campaign: Extraordinary Impact. We are filled with deep gratitude and hope for the future of Adelphi.”

1,896 Minutes—and Reasons—to Give

As it has since Adelphi’s 125th anniversary, Giving Day has lasted a few more than 24 hours, extending to 1,896 minutes to reflect Adelphi’s founding in 1896.

While the timing has changed, Giving Day at Adelphi has continued to benefit programs and causes across the University. Donations are made to each of the University’s colleges and schools, athletic programs, the Bridges to Adelphi program for students on the autism spectrum, and causes including the Adelphi Fund, Performing Arts Center, Innovation Center, SPARK Center for undergraduate research, Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program, and Panthers Pay It Forward Campaign.

A new challenge was added to Giving Day this year as well—planned giving. Thirteen people, including four anonymous donors, met the challenge and committed a total of $1.2 million dollars. The University is proud to recognize all 13 donors as members of the Adelphi Forever Gold Society.

There are many other highlights of this year’s giving.

The ĂŰŃżTV Honors College received a $45,000 gift from alumni Carole ’64 and Neal ’63 Stuber, and the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business led the University’s eight schools and colleges, raising $67,335, with generous matching gifts from its Dean’s Advisory Board, Trustee Kevin Mahony ’83 and an anonymous donor. , always supported by Panther fans, raised $268,504, including $52,775 for men’s soccer and $45,630 for the men’s golf program.

Every current member of the ĂŰŃżTV Board of Trustees participated, reflecting their ongoing commitment to Adelphi’s mission. Close to 1,600 donors in all showed their support for Adelphi, including alumni, students and their families, faculty, administrators, staff, and friends of the University. The funds raised will continue advancing Adelphi’s 130-year-old mission to transform student lives through exceptional hands-on learning, extraordinary student experiences, accessible scholarships and academic resources.

ĂŰŃżTV men’s lacrosse team midfielder Kyle Lewis was selected in the fourth round of the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) College Draft on April 14 by the Philadelphia Waterdogs as the 29th overall selection.

Described as a player with “firecracker feet,” the defending national Midfielder of the Year, two-time NCAA Champion and All-American is the first Adelphi Panther ever to be drafted to a team in the , which was co-founded in 2018 by Paul Rabil.

Lewis, a senior majoring in exercise science, was the only Division II student-athlete selected in the draft and just one of two non-Division I players, joining Jack Regnery from DIII Tufts University.

During the 70 games in his Adelphi career, the Franklin Square, New York, native has scored more than 100 times, including the overtime game winner in the 2025 title game. As the PLL draft was airing on ESPNU on Tuesday, Lewis was busy scoring a season-high four goals in the No. 1 Adelphi lacrosse team’s crucial top 10 matchup against No. 9 Pace University.

“If I had to describe Kyle, I’d say he’s elite on the field and unmatched in character,” said Head Coach Gordon Purdie ’88. “The PLL isn’t just getting one of the greatest athletes I’ve ever coached, they are getting one of the most sincere men I’ve ever known.”

Returning to the site of the Adelphi lacrosse program’s eighth national championship in Philadelphia in 2024, Lewis will play for Bill Tierney, who coached at the University of Denver and Princeton before joining the PLL coaching ranks. Tierney is also a Long Island native.

Lewis joins a list of Adelphi greats to make it to the next level of professional lacrosse, including teammate Dylan Renner, who was picked up by the Utah Archers following the 2025 National Championship and was the first Division II player to be drafted to the PLL since 2021. Current Adelphi assistant coach Greg Puskuldjian ’14, from Glen Head, New York, was the 13th pick in the 2020 PLL Player Entry Draft after coming over from Major League Lacrosse when the leagues merged.

There was a time when Lewis considered other options, entering the transfer portal last summer to weigh the possibility of transferring to a Division I institution. After choosing to remain in Garden City, he was named both the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year and was the only Division II player to be on the first installment of the prestigious Tewaaraton Watch List at the start of 2026.

“Being selected in the draft is a by-product of Kyle’s perseverance and commitment to lacrosse,” said Greg Bouris, an assistant teaching professor of sport management at Adelphi with more than 35 years of experience in the professional sports industry. “It is also a testament to the ĂŰŃżTV athletic program. Under Coach Purdie’s guidance, Adelphi has maintained its status as one of the most successful lacrosse programs in the entire NCAA ecosystem. Kyle’s selection, in the backdrop of the NIL and transfer portal era, also confirms that an athlete with the skill level to play professionally should make their collegiate choices based on a number of factors, including the fact that the individual will be a non-player for most of their lives.”

The ĂŰŃżTV men’s lacrosse team is riding a 22-game win streak that dates back to the 2025 season, including a 13-0 stretch this year. Lewis and the team conclude their regular season on Saturday, April 18, at Motamed Field in Garden City, New York, and will earn the regular season Northeast 10 crown for the third time in the past five seasons.
