It\u2019s important that in such instances, faculty are prepared to adapt instruction as necessary to ensure smooth communication with students about alternate plans, make up class dates, or the conversion of some activities in the course to online activities. The Faculty Center for Professional Excellence (FCPE) developed this resource to provide information to faculty members so that the education process is less impacted during an event that disrupts face-to-face classroom instruction on its campuses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>These resources might best be utilized during times when:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>The physical classroom or building in which a course is normally taught is inaccessible for more than one class meeting<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>External events (i.e. snowstorm\/weather, illness, electrical outage, flooding, etc.) affect regular classroom activity<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Scholarship opportunities interfere with scheduled teaching responsibilities (i.e. conference, field research, etc.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Other major personal emergencies demand the attention of the instructor (or student)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to Move Online<\/h2>\n<p><span>Many of the solutions below utilize Moodle, and you can find associated tutorials on our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/fcpe\/resources\/educational-technology\/moodle\/\"><span>Moodle Resource webpage<\/span><\/a><span>. Be wary of email fatigue with this option though.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Moodle<\/strong> &#8211; <\/span><span>Make use of the Moodle Announcements forum found in your course to disseminate general announcements and communications.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 34.5557%;\"><span>Distribute documents, readings, and other course content?<\/span><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 64.457%;\"><strong>Email<\/strong><span> &#8211; <\/span><span>Use your Adelphi email to make attachments of course readings and materials. Make PDF scans of hard copy resources to attach and share.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Moodle<\/strong><span> &#8211; <\/span><span>Upload your digital copies of files and link external websites to Moodle.<\/span><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Adelphi Library<\/strong><span> &#8211; <\/span><span>Reach out to the Library for assistance in finding digital copies of your course materials.<\/span><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Google Drive<\/strong><span> &#8211; Upload your course documents to Google Drive, then share with your students<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 34.5557%;\"><span>Collect student work and share feedback?<\/span><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 64.457%;\"><strong>Email<\/strong><span> &#8211; <\/span><span>Ask your students to send you emails with their assignment work attached, or in the body of the email.
