This training presents an integrated framework for understanding and treating the interplay between ADHD, executive dysfunction, and anger dysregulation in adults. Rather than viewing ADHD solely as inattention or hyperactivity, it is conceptualized as inconsistent access to executive functioning, which disrupts both task performance and emotional regulation. Within this model, anger is understood as a dysregulated response emerging from the interaction of perception, internalized experiences, and unmet needs. A neurobiological lens illustrates how prefrontal inefficiencies combined with heightened limbic activation create feedback loops that intensify reactivity and impair decision-making under stress. Using clinical case examples, participants will learn to identify the shared constraints driving both emotional outbursts and executive functioning breakdowns.
The course then introduces a structured, evidence-informed intervention model that progresses from state regulation to cognitive strategies and finally to executive function supports. Drawing from multiple modalities, including CBT, DBT, metacognitive therapy, somatic approaches, and parts work, clinicians will gain practical tools to improve regulation and performance. Emphasis is placed on experiential skill acquisition, enabling clinicians to help clients build sustainable systems that reduce anger reactivity and enhance overall functioning.

Joel Kouame, LCSW, MBA, CAMS-II

Joel Kouame is an individual and couples therapist, immigration evaluator, clinical supervisor, and the founder of JK Counseling, a fully virtual group practice. Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for cancellations made seven working days or fewer before the event for any reason—or for no-shows. We can provide credit towards a future workshop up to 24 hours before the event. After that, no credit will be issued.
